Churches Together in Keynsham and Saltford run a football Kick Academy. Kick was started in London in 2003 as a collaboration between a Christian football coach, a local church and Youth for Christ. Kick’s vision is to provide a bridge between sport and church by providing values-driven sports in schools and through community Kick Academies. Keynsham’s Kick Academy currently runs every 1st Saturday of the month, for an hour, starting at 2.30pm and is based out of Queen’s Road Methodist Church. Each session is run by volunteers from across the Churches in Keynsham, who have all been DBS checked. After a warm up, there are some skills development sessions, a short ’thought for the day’ based on a theme from The Bible, and then a fun match where we put what we have learned into practise. The age range is 7-14. It is free to attend and girls and boys of all standards are welcome.
