CHILDREN & FAMILIES

We have lots of exciting things happening in Keynsham Parish for Children and Families.

Explore
(Sunday mornings)

Little Explorers (Under 4)
Explorers (Years R-2)
Adventurers (Years 3-6)
Waymakers (Year 7+)

During the 11am service at St John’s, children are invited to attend groups: Little explorers (under 4s), Explorers (Year R-2) and Adventurers (Year 3-6) as well as Waymakers (Year 7 upwards).

The children enjoy an all together time of sharing stories, games and a short prayer, before heading off into age appropriate groups to explore more on the theme for that day.

On the 4th Sunday of the month, we run Muddy Church, where we may get muddy in the OCT garden, enjoying the outdoors and sharing stories.

Toddler groups
(Monday afternoons, Tuesday afternoons & Wednesday mornings)

Ages 0-4

We currently have two toddler groups running in term-time in the Parish:

*From 7th October, 2024

We have plenty of toys for all age of children under 5 and are a very informal group, run by members of St Francis church, providing craft, snacks, singing, cups of tea and a warm welcome.

As we are a church-run group, each session is finished with a child centred prayer.

From 7th October there will be a new "Little Explorers" toddler group on Monday afternoons at St John's Church Hall.  The group will run from 1.15-2.45pm (term-time only)  and will be for babies and children aged 0-4 with their adults. So parents and grandparents - bring your little ones and stay and play with us!

Who let the Dads out

1st and 3rd Saturday of each month

Who Let the Dads Out is a growing movement that resources churches to reach out to dads, father figures and their children. Who Let the Dads Out is organised nationally by Care for the Family and there are now over 250 such groups around the country. It is founded on the principle of wanting to demonstrate God’s love to communities.

We run two Dads Out sessions in the parish. They create a space for dads, father figures and their 0 - reception age children to have fun together. The team of dedicated helpers provides bacon rolls, tea and coffee for the men and plenty of toys, craft activities, a story and toast and jam for the children. Now into our 6th year, we have a growing list of about 60 dads who we communicate with on a regular basis

Session times:

  • St Francis Church: 10am – 11.30am 1st Saturday of the month

  • St John’s Church: 10am – 11.30am 3rd Saturday of the month
